Today was very exciting.........
The red Quest no. 515 was unpacked (and unmarked) at Bike Otago in Dunedin after its journey here from Velomobile nl of the Netherlands. Inside the bike was a collection of tubes, charger, repair kit, wheel covers and a racekap, which fits me fine at 6' 2" tall. The staff at Bike Otago were totally into prepping the velomobile and eager to discuss their thoughts on the Quests fine engineering. It was dark when it was finally ready for a test run so I will be looking forward to a try out in the daylight. I did have a short run and can say it was a pleasure to operate and very comfortable. Will work on some movie footage in due course.
Congratulations on your beautiful red Quest. How many velomobiles are there in New Zealand?
ReplyDeleteThere is a "Velomobile" page on Bentrideronline and a large contingent of Velomobile riders on Face Book.
It is a really great international community.
Welcome to the family.

Hi Rob
ReplyDeleteThanks for contact. Ive been enjoying the quest very much in Dunedin. Going down the street results in applause and positive comments every time. I ride in weather that would definitely keep me off my upright bike and head winds make almost no difference to performance. Lots of people asking what electric motor I am using! Its been very well received in Dunedin. Thanks again.
Hi David
ReplyDeleteThanks for contact. Yes, there are a few velomobiles in NZ. Some excellent home made versions by clever HPV people in Christchurch which is in the South Island. Ive been riding recumbents for few years now Bacchetta, Rans etc and now made the move to a velomobile. I want to promote alternatives to cars and am very proud to be part of the velomobile scene with a quest from Holland. I have enjoyed your articles and yellow quest pics on the web. Thanks again, Peter
Bloody fine machine! must have cost a poultice load tho!
